A Visit from the Targaryen's - RP Log submitted by Jude Hunt
Aeron Targaryen raises an eyebrow and says with a little
smile "Your Grace. It is such a wonderful place you rule today." With
the smile fainting from his face he adds "Personally I am a great admirer
of beauty, my lady, and it would be terrible if all this was someday ruined
because of hesitation."
Tiberius Baelor Hightower places his hand on his blade
"Stranger, you would do most well not to speak so to her Grace."
Yseulte Mistwood Hoovers behind one of the great columns,
looking around, wondering why she had been summoned.
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell watches the silver haired lord with
a cool expression on her face, and the smile she offers him does not reach her
green eyes. "I am glad we have something in common then, my lord. However,
where I come from it is not customary to joke lightly about destruction or loss
... as some might take them seriously and consider them threats." Her eyes
notice the movement by the door, and she sees the guards escort the Highgarden
nobles in, who she has sent for. "Noble lords Hightower and Conkly, ladies
Tarly and Hunt, this is Lord Targaryen of Dragonstone."
Yseulte Mistwood Turns to the silver haired man and
curtsies.
Tiberius Baelor Hightower nods curtly. "Tiberius
Hightower of Oldtown, and greetings to my Queens realm."
Jude Hunt curtsies to her Queen "Your Grace" and
then turns to the stranger and nods, stepping back to listen further.
Nermal Tomsen steps closer and bows to the queen “Your
Grace" and to the stranger "A good day to you mylord"
Aeron Targaryen turns to look at the Lord with a slightly
amused look and says "Greetings to You too, My Lord. I do like to see
bravery and loyality to your Queen." Turning back to the Queen he says
with an almost charming smile "Your Grace, your wisdom is as beautiful as
you appearance, I would never doubt it. Alas, my opinion is not always the only
one" He bows and leaves with swift strides
Tiberius Baelor Hightower motions for his House Guard to escort the man
on his way out.
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell narrows her eyes slightly as she
watches the Lord of Dragonstone leave. Then she takes a breath and looks at the
nobles she has had summoned, Lady Hunt, lady Tarly, Lord Hightower and Lord
Conklyn. No guards and no other people would have been admitted to the audience
chamber. She studies their faces for a moment, then says, "Take a seat,
sers."
Tiberius Baelor Hightower "Yes your Grace."
Jude Hunt frowns thinking over the situation and nods at the
Queen's request, making her way over to the table and taking a seat. She nods
to Lord Hightower who is already seated "My Lord"
Tiberius Baelor Hightower smiles and nods. "My Lady."
Yseulte Mistwood Remains standing since the Queen had
directed the sers to sit but not the ladies.
Nermal Tomsen wondering "Well, who was this
stranger?" Bows and seats
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell waits for the nobles to be seated,
then motions for a servant to bring wine. She accepts a cup herself too, and
takes a sip. "As some or all of you may know, Lord Tarly has returned from
his imprisonment. He seems rather severely wounded and have been mistreated by
Allyn Gardener and his vassals. At the moment he is being cared for at his
home."
Tiberius Baelor Hightower "Word had not reached me, this is great
news indeed"
Yseulte Mistwood Looks up at the Queen curiously
Yseulte Mistwood curiously
Jude Hunt takes a deep breath knowing what a bad state Lord
Tarly is in and she briefly glances at Lady Tarly to see if she reacts. What
this has to do with the recent visitor she is still unsure.
Nermal Tomsen nods "Yes, he returned in a bad shape and
needs to recover for some time." Looking at the wine but not taking one
right now "So, there are other news?" Looking at the queen
Tiberius Baelor Hightower never one to turn away a drink, pours himself
a glass.
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell looks at all of them, her eyes
lingering on each of their faces. "Lord Tarly has given a report to Lord
Conklyn and sent me a letter with the same report as well, which bears his
signature and seal. Lord Tarly was not only released for humanity or mercy. He
bears a message from Allyn Gardener as well. Gardener has several suuporters
and was able to flee after the defeat of Grassy Vale. How many these traitors
are, or whose houses they belong to, Lord Tarly claims he does not know, as he
was kept blindfolded. Lord Nermal, have you got any additions to this?"
Nermal Tomsen nods "Lord Tarly thinks it was in the
eastern parts of the reach where they too him. But he could not tell for sure,
nor their strength. So he said. Nothing more to add for this point"
Jude Hunt listens intently to Lord Conklyn, still unsure how
this story sounds......could Lord Tarly really have seen nothing during his
capture
Tiberius Baelor Hightower not really knowing Lord Tarly but for his brief
visits to court before his summons after the passing of Jorah but knowing that
his brother never trusted the man.
Yseulte Mistwood Having only heard her husband mention that
he had been blindfolded, she sits quietly, looking from the Queen to Lord
Nermal then back, not sure what this means to the kingdom.
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell waits for a few moments, she nods
at Lord Nermal. "That is what Lord Tarly reports. We have no means of
hunting down the Gardener troops without knowledge about their whereabouts, or
who the supporters are. Some of you will certainly remember that Lord Florent
went missing and seems to have run over to Gardener at the beginning of the
war. But there must be more supporters. Now ... the message Lord Tarly was
supposed to bring ... " She takes a deep breath. "Gardener has
captered my brother, Prince Nik Lannister."
Yseulte Mistwood Her eyes widen
Nermal Tomsen shakes his head "Lord Tarly is a man of
honour.." Looking at the others at the table "Thats the second news,
Lord tarly delivered. Together iwht a message. And I asume that why this
visitor was here before"
Tiberius Baelor Hightower the shock apparent on his face. "I shall
raise my bannerman at once your Grace."
Jude Hunt raises her eyebrows in surprise, she was not
expecting this and looks at the Queen gravely "My sympathies Your Grace.
Have they asked for something in return for his release?"
Tiberius Baelor Hightower eyebrow arches in question. "An what was
this message.?"
Yseulte Mistwood Eyes the size of saucers she only looks at
the faces about her
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell takes a deep sip of wine, then
holds the cup in her hands, her jaw set as in stone. "I thank you for your
sympathy and for loyalty. I have already sent a raven to my eldest brother,
King Tyrellious of Casterly Rock. This is a provocation we cannot let go
unanswered." She breathes in and out. "Unfortunately he has not sent
any release terms ... Now ... for my visitor from before. YOu may have noticed
the dragon guards outside the castle. Lord Targaryen of Dragonstone and his
mother, the lady of Dragonstone, have arrived and wish to establish a treaty.
As some of you may recall, we owe them ... a female warrior and a dragon - the
lives of our army and the victory at Grassy Vale."
Yseulte Mistwood relaxes a little and nods
Tiberius Baelor Hightower hopes the debt is worth the loan.
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell sees the look of doubt on Lord
Hightower's face and looks at him. With a cool voice she says, "His Grace,
my lord husband, would have died there, together with all others, as the siege
was a ruse, and the armies of the Gardener and Baratheon traitor had built a
trap. Fortunately, the Targyryens had business with the Baratheon themselves,
as he seemingly had betrayed a promise to them."
Jude Hunt feels suddenly tense at the talk of the Grassy
Vale and is still unsure she can believe in things like Dragons. But listening
to her Queen the thought of a treaty may mean having friends in high places
"What are the terms of the treaty Your Grace or is that yet to be
established?"
Tiberius Baelor Hightower does not like this development in the least,
distrustfull of all not of his House or his Kings. "Your Grace, mine eyes
will be on them. Perhaps not mine own eyes, but eyes I own to be sure."
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell leans a bit forward. "I have
not seen the dragon with my eyes, but Lord Conklyn here has. Perhaps he can
tell everyone here what such a beast means, and what power the rider yields.
This rider let her dragon set more than thousand Baratheon followers on fire
... And you have seen the Lord. He is offering friendship, but I do not trust
any Dragon Lords. However, his friendship is ... *much* better than his wrath.
We cannot withstand the fire of dragons, not after this war, and probably also
not without it."
Tiberius Baelor Hightower "Is this true my Lord? I was taught, as
they do a tthe Citadel, that dragons are only stories, like those of the
DIrewolf they tell in the north."
Yseulte Mistwood sits back, pondering the words, quietly
listening so she can report accurately to her Lord Husband this important news
Nermal Tomsen nods with a dark expresision "As the
queen said, i saw this dragon, how it burned the army and ate that baratheon. i
hate those beasts" Sighing "So this is somehow a tricky situation,
isnt it? we got to safe her graces brother and not anger the dragon
owners"
Tiberius Baelor Hightower "I will send a Raven to the Council of
Archmaesters, so that we may have there guidance as well."
Nermal Tomsen shakes his head "we better talk about
htis first before we spread the news all over the world"
Jude Hunt sits up, concern on her face and looks to the
Queen "You are of course right in what you say My Queen, but does this
mean that the Targyryens will own the world if they wield the power of these
beasts. What standing will Highgarden have, are we forever to be at their
disposal?" she nods to a maid who brings her a cup of wine and she drinks
deeply.
Yseulte Mistwood "Their breeding."
Yseulte Mistwood Raises her eyebrow and looks at Lord
Nermal.
Nermal Tomsen nods "The message from the gardener Lorda
tarly brought with him " If Highgarden affiliates more with the targaryens
and their dragons, the Lannister prince will die."" taking a cuo of
wine now but truning it in his handes "So for now we cannot fight dragons,
by all mean we cannot win against even one. so there must be politics. But ...
we got to get the brother of her grace back. and that wont be easy. we searched
the reach for a month and dint find a trace of them . so the warband must be
rather small and on the move"
Tiberius Baelor Hightower "How are we to keep news of this
Targaryen in our own city from the Gardener traitor?"
Yseulte Mistwood looks about the room, thinking that news is
probably already on it's way to the traitor but remains quiet in this room of
people far wiser than she on matters of politics.
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell again looks at the noble lords and
ladies. "I wish to hear your assessment of the situation. What do you
suggest?" She leans back and takes another sip of wine.
Tiberius Baelor Hightower sighs "I sugget we seal the ports an
gates, gather all information on what ships, mechants, peasant, even goats,
that have left this city since the arrival of this Targareyen."
Nermal Tomsen smiles "Maybe we can get the Targaryens
to help us with this case. They might also consider they want friends here who
owe them, rather than allies they cannot be sure of"
Yseulte Mistwood Takes one of the glasses of wine, sips and
listens.
Jude Hunt looks thoughtful for a moment, she wonders if
there is a way that the treaty could work in their favor "Forgive me if
this is a foolish suggestion, but what if we asked the Targyryens to aid us in
the rescue of your brother to speed up the treaty.....it could be one of our
terms. They clearly do not want to conquer and destroy or would have not come
to you." She looks at each of her table companions and wonders their
thoughts
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell sighs. "We have no treaty so
far. He has suggested one. I wish to hear all of your opinions on how to deal
with both House Targaryen and House Gardener ... And do not forget the fate of
my brother. I want him back ... alive." She speaks the last few words in a
very decisive manner,
Jude Hunt nods to Lord Conklyn, my words precisely, they may
have the upper hand with their winged beasts, but they still need to show us an
act of loyalty to earn ours in return.
Tiberius Baelor Hightower thinks it is best to bend then break, as that
is how his family had ruled the honeywine region wince the dawn of days.
Tiberius Baelor Hightower ponders a moment before replying to his Queen.
"I still say we try our best to contain the situation as bet we can to
allow us more time to assess the situation. We must of course placate these
dragons as best we can without seeming in need of them or they are sure to to
use that to an advantage."
Yseulte Mistwood "Does the Targaryean know of your
brother's situation?"
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell drinks slowly, with tiny sips, more
as if she is just wanting to 'do' something, and listens. "I do not think
that the Targaryen knows of Prince Nik. And I believe that it must be carefully
decided, which information can leave this room ..."
Nermal Tomsen nods in agreement "Better not too much to
be told. And for myself, i have no wish to talk to this arrogant bunch"
Tiberius Baelor Hightower "Not a word will leave my lips your
Grace."
Yseulte Mistwood "I would advise caution with regard to
approaching the Targaryean about helping with recovering your brother. We are
already beholden to them and they are very aware of it."
Jude Hunt looks up to the ceiling and traces the line of the
stone with her eyes, seeing how small cracks are forming, just as cracks in
their city armor is forming with this new situation. Then another thought
occurs to her and she looks up at the Queen "What about a union Your Grace
between a member of the Tyrell family and a member of the Targaryean
family.....to unit us and bring us to their level. Someone once said keep your
friends close and your enemies even closer"
Yseulte Mistwood Rises and curtsies to the King.
Jude Hunt stands as she sees the King enter and curtsies to
him "Greetings Your Grace, good to see you up and about today"
Tiberius Baelor Hightower stands as his King enters. "My
King."
Bandor Tyrell walks quickly and sits next to his wife,
"Please keep your seats and continue."
Nermal Tomsen bows to the King "Good to see you, your
grace"
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell nods, pondering the nobles' words.
"We will not be able to contain the information about the Targaryens
having landed though ... people have surely seen their black and red dragon
guards and the three headed dragon banners..." She frowns slightly at Lady
Jude, but does not comment. "My king!" she says, "Have the maesters
allowed you to rise again?" Her eyes look at him with concern.
Bandor Tyrell "May the others take the maesters. Their
will be damned, it is time I return to the world of the living."
Tiberius Baelor Hightower smiles wide. "Long live the King"
Nermal Tomsen grins "Long live the King!"
Bandor Tyrell nods his head in recognition of the well
wishes of the court...
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell throws a glance at her husband's
face, which looks pale to her, and she sighs softly, but does not comment.
"Lord Hightower, return to your tower and call your banners, but not
openly. Send them ravens to be prepared. I will infrom His Grace of what we
spoke."
Nermal Tomsen nods "So we are dismissed until further
councils?. i am sure there will be one soon again"
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell glances at the king, then nods at
Lord Conklyn. "Lord Comklyn, devise another plan to scan the areas, which
seem most probable to offer room for a warband. Wastelands, woods, the river.
Perhaps Lord tarly is able to remember some important details."
Nermal Tomsen stands and bows "Yes Your Grace. Will do
it at once." takes his leave
Jude Hunt rises from her seat and curtsies "May I be of
service to you My King, My Queen then you only need ask" and she waits for
instruction or dismissal
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell looks at lady Hunt. "Lady Hunt
... we may need gold ... a lot of gold, and someone to manage how to attain
more, and to spend it wisely. You have been very effective so far, and we are
very pleased with your performance with all the merchants. Come forth ..."
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell waves a servant close, who brings a
small wooden box. She stands and her eyes meet Jude's. "Lady Hunt .. in
the name of the Crown, we .." she looks at her husband and smiles softly,
"We name you Mistress of Coin for the realm. Take this necklace and these
keys, and serve us as faithfully and well as you have before."
Yseulte Mistwood smiles and claps softly for her friend.
Jude Hunt looks stunned for a moment, not expecting such an
honor and she bows her head and takes the box given to her "I accept this
honor with all that I am and can be and hope I do the title justice. Thank you
Your Grace" she curtsies deeply
Bandor Tyrell "Lady Hunt, your service has been
invaluable thus far. We entrust you with a position of high authority. I trust
you to not disappoint us."
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell smiles slightly and nods after the
king has spoken. "Lady Hunt ... you will in the following days to come
need to confer with the steward and several bookkeepers. I wish you to know the
books as soon as possible. We may need gold, and the renovations of the city
have cost a lot .. Come back with reports as soon as possible."
Jude Hunt keeping her head bowed takes a deep breath her
head reeling from this event "I will not disappoint you My King, My Queen
and you honor me with this"
Jude Hunt curtsies looking up and smiling "I will do
ask you ask Your Grace”
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell studies Yseulte's face for a while,
and their eyes meet. "Lady Tarly. Please give our well wishes to your Lord
Husband. Anything that he remembers will be of great value." She pauses
and it seems as if she wants to say more, but then refrains from it.
"Perhaps we can speak more later, Lady Yseulte, as it might be women's
talk, and His Grace might be bored by it ..."
Yseulte Mistwood curtsies deeply. "Of course Your
Grace. Summon me when you have a moment."
Bandor Tyrell chuckles, "Yes, I bore quickly when
surrounded by women."
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell sighs. "My King. Lord Tarly
has returned from Allyn Gardener's imprisonment. We is bruised and wounded and
seems to have been mistreated badly. He was set free to bring a message though
... that Gardener has captured my brother, prince Nik." She swallows hard.
"Should we affiliate with the Targaryens or their dragons, that is his
messgae, he will kill my brother ... And just imagine, what a coincidence,
today the Lord of House targaryen landed here and spoke to me in this very room
about a treaty ..."
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell turns towards Lady Tarly.
"Yes, Lady Yseulte, you are excused. Give our regard to your brave
husband."
Ginevra Lannister-Tyrell *insert ... House Targaryen of
Dragonstone, whose dragon we owe the victory and your lives at grassy Vale
Yseulte Mistwood "Thank you Your Grace" she backs
away a few steps before turning and moving up the stairs.
